Position Summary and Responsibilities
UCP Wheels for Humanity seeks a motivated intern to support our Programs teams. The intern will perform a variety of tasks to streamline implementation of UCPW’s portfolio of international projects and advance the organization’s mission of promoting greater inclusion for people with disabilities globally through mobility, therapy, empowerment, and advocacy. The intern will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a close-knit and supportive setting, gain further soft skills and professional competencies, and enhance their knowledge of both donor funded international development projects and the assistive technology and rehabilitation sectors.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide targeted research and analysis for current projects • Support the implementation of the UCPW filing framework • Review draft results framework and address gaps in literature • Refine indicator bank across 4 outcomes pillars • Conduct research on potential grants • Perform other duties in support of CLASP service partners as assigned • Catalogue donors that conduct wheelchair projects by region and develop communications templates as relevant.
Qualifications and Experience
Be enrolled in an accredited college or university • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in international affairs, public policy, public health, rehabilitation, therapy (such as occupational/physical therapy) or a related field • Some experience in qualitative research and/or project management • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities • Proactive, detail-oriented, capable of meeting deadlines, and dependable • Capable of working independently, as well as part of a team • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Demonstrated interest in global health, public policy, international development, humanitarian aid, and/or non-profit work • Proficiency in a foreign language a plus
Location: Chatsworth, California. Duration: 2-3 months, 15 hours/week minimum. Apply by: July 15, 2018. Compensation: Unpaid
