Development Associate Job Description


  • Process individual donations received with the Finance Department and send acknowledgements within 2 business days
  • Submit weekly report of donations to Executive Director, Finance and Development departments.
  • Provide monthly reconciliations of donations to make sure they match those of the Finance department Database​ ​Management
  • Maintain donor records and gift acknowledgement
  • Cleanse existing data and create consistent coding & attributes
  • Pull regular reports of donor activity
  • Update general acknowledgement template used by the database every quarter Foundation and Corporate Grants
  • Research and identify potential foundation, corporate, and individual donors and support the organization in donor cultivation planning
  • Identify, write and submit proposals to private foundations
  • Review and update dashboard on Foundation Center
  • Assist with facilitating proposals and reports, and liaise with private foundation contacts Gala/Event Coordinating
  • Manage Event Committee
  • Coordinate all event logistics (site rentals, menus, auction, vendors)
  • Manage event communications (invitation process, guest lists, event software, emails)
  • Manage event sponsorships (individual and corporate)
  • Coordinate auction (assist with procurement of items) Appeals
  • Coordinate and execute e-mail, direct mail and on-line appeals and newsletters
  • Filter and manage lists as needed for all appeals
  • Manage the printing, inserting and mailing of appeal materials

Marketing & Communications

  • Assist with Social Media/Marketing activities (Website, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Assist with additional public relations, media, and communications, as needed

Qualifications and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-5 years of experience working as a fundraising professional with a non-profit organization
  • Knowledge of and experience with fundraising galas/events
  • Strong writing and organization skills
  • Interest in making a difference for people with disabilities
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite of products, Donor Management Software (Bloomerang a plus) Preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish

Position Logistics
