UCP Wheels for Humanity is honored to be the recipient of a Quality of Life Grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation! The Reeve Foundation’s generous grant will support UCP Wheels’ Domestic Clinical Training Workshop. This workshop, part of our Wheelchair Training Program, will be held at UCP Wheels’ headquarters later this year and is a Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop. Workshop participants, who are U.S.-based wheelchair providers, will learn how to deliver the World Health Organization’s Wheelchair Service Training Package to our partner organizations in developing countries. Once in-country sessions taught by the Domestic Clinical Training Workshop participants have been completed, the partner organizations will have more individuals who can directly provide properly fitting wheelchairs to those who need them in their communities. Eventually, the Domestic Clinical Training Workshop participants will have successfully conducted enough of these in-country sessions to become master trainers and teach ToT workshops like the one in which they participated, further increasing the number of individuals qualified to provide properly fitted wheelchairs to those in need around the world. Thank you, Reeve Foundation, for making this important project possible!
