On September 26, our Volunteer Coordinator David Hernandez helped close out National Rehabilitation Week with a wheelchair drive in Fresno, California sponsored by the San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Center. The event, now in its fourth consecutive year, helped UCP Wheels for Humanity collect over 200 wheelchairs, walkers, wheelchair parts, ambulatory aids, and physical therapy equipment. The donated equipment was brought back to our North Hollywood warehouse, where they will be repaired, refurbished, and distributed to children, teens, and adults with physical and developmental disabilities in developing countries around the world at no cost. Watch this video of 10-year-old Danar, a past wheelchair recipient from UCP Wheels for Humanity, and see how the gift of mobility transformed his life.
