UCP Wheels for Humanity seeks a full-time Program Coordinator based in our North Hollywood headquarters to support the development and implementation of a 4-year USAID-funded wheelchair service provision program throughout Central America.

Position Summary
The Program Coordinator will report directly to the Program Manager and will oversee the launch of a 4-year USAID wheelchair service training and provision program in El Salvador and Nicaragua. UCP Wheels works in more than 10 countries annually and is currently overseeing large-scale USAID-funded programs in Indonesia and El Salvador. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for managing staff and operations in El Salvador and Nicaragua; for ensuring that USAID project objectives are met within the program’s timeline; and for liaising with potential funding partners to secure additional wheelchairs for the project’s sustainability. The Program Coordinator will be charged with leading a team in complex developing country contexts — prior understanding of how to work within such contexts while achieving organization-wide goals is a must.

Responsibilities
– Support program implementation needs including project planning, USAID reporting, and budget management
– Manage staff in El Salvador and Nicaragua
– Oversee and coordinate wheelchair service training and systems development courses
– Maintain and develop relationships with funding agencies to support project sustainability
– Strategize and support partnership development regionally and globally to encourage project scalability
– Provide administrative support to the Program Manager
– Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
– 3+ years managing programs for an international organization
– Prior experience working in developing countries required
– Prior experience working on USAID-funded projects preferred
– Self-motivated and self-directed. Ability to work independently and initiate new activities
– Computer skills: expertise in Word, Excel, Power Point
– Flexibility and ability to prioritize and multi-task
– Fluency in English & Spanish
– Strong communication skills both verbally and written
– Willingness to travel internationally up to 30% of the time
